Criccieth itself is an unspoilt seaside town facing due south, with two glorious beaches divided by the headland, on which sits the 700-year-old castle. The bathing is safe and there is plenty of opportunity for sailing, sea and river fishing, country walks and riding. The local 18-hole golf course will challenge any for the beauty of its surroundings. Concessionary rates available to all Hotel Guests.

It is ideal both for holidaymakers who want a restful seaside holiday and for visitors who wish to tour Snowdonia or those who wish to mix the two. Snowdon, the highest peak in Wales , is but a few miles away. Criccieth is ideal for year round holidays, the winters being mild and the weather in spring and early summer is pleasantly warm, providing an excellent time for early, off-season breaks. Situated, as it is, at the northern end of Cardigan Bay, Criccieth faces south and benefits from being in the path of the Gulf Stream for its mild weather. The hours of sunshine recorded here equal the record of Devon and Cornwall . Generally, the summers are warm and the winters mild. Come in the summer and you will see Criccieth awash with flowers

Criccieth is now easily accessible, both by road and rail with the new expressway now completed - linked to the M56 and then M6, or the M54 and then A5 from the Midlands and South. The Cambrian coast railway line is linked to Birmingham New Street and offers a beautiful scenic journey.

The Lion Hotel is the ideal base from which to explore the lovely Llyn Peninsular and, of course, Snowdonia. Both offer a wealth of places of interest and beauty to visit.
